"Youth Dance - Cultivate An Attitude of Grattitude"

Friday we had our fall youth dance!!

Theme: "Cultivate an Attitude of Grattitude
Date: 11/12/10
Time: 7pm
Place: Stake Center
Dress Code: Sunday Best
Dance Cards: Yes Please!

We absolutely LOVE the young men & young women of our stake...

Our youth leaders where: Talia Fisiinaua, Lia Fehoko, Konokono Lotulelei & TJ Maka.....
(missing Lia below)

When we met w/them to plan out all the details of the dance they had such great input. These four where such a great help...they gave ideas of what they wanted for refreshments...intermission games (since we didn't have a set program)...decorations, and the DJ...
Their main responsibilities at the dance where: to conduct...be the MC's...run the intermission games....help enccourage youth to get their boogy on & help us adult leaders with whatever it is we needed...withouth them it would've have been such a success!!

So MUCHO luvs to you four for a job well done!!

Here are a few...I mean a TON of pics from Friday night's events....they're not quite in order...
it was really soo much fun!!

A big thanks to Tiare 'Iongi for making our beautiful sign!

The guessing Jars...the person closest w/o going over...WINS! There where alot of good guesses and calculating going on...

We even did what ALL Tongans do at EVERY dance....THE TONGAN MARCH...

I was surprised to see that many of the youth knew the proper way to "wait for the train & jump in line"...

"The March" was lead by Talia & Teejay....& they did a terric job!

You go left...we go right...

left....right....

and of course it has to wind into a snake....

And ours went out that door...

& back in this door....

We can't finish until we all come in a full circle and have a great big group hug....

Well, actually it finishes with a couples slow dance & they (the youth) knew it too...because as soon as the music started...the dance floor was barren....

Refreshments table..

Get your boogie on!

Cinderella Game...20 handsome guys...

20 lovely shoes....

Are my eyes deceiving me??...*singing*...one of these things just doesn't belong here....

LOL...

Each YM's job was to pick a shoe & find the owner while the owners hid in the crowd...
They  were searching high & low...

But for some reason none of them wanted to look for the owner of that shoe...

Luckily Nia claimed it!!

& they lived happily ever after... ;-)

Here were the prizes...their favorite form of nourishment...

Beautiful Ladies...

Mingle - Mingle game...

The crazy bunch from the Layton Branch....they were so fun to watch!

Dancing the night away...

Winner of the Reese's PB cups!! Great guess Tevita!

Here's the winner of all the skittles...she promised the rest of her YW that she was going to bring them to church the following sunday and share with everyone...what a sugar rush they all must've had...

A special thanks to all our Priesthood leaders, YW leaders, Parents and especially our wonderful youth for such a great time!! We had a blast watching each of you associate with one another & hope we can continue in that same spirit at our next youth dance!

For anyone that has received this prestigious award will know very well this is no easy task by any means...You go girl!!! We are all so proud of you!

And what a great theme! Young Women Around the world...

YWIE is also a great opportunity to introduce new YW to the program...Lani Pututau is new a member of the Beehive class...here she is with her mom Ngatu in their beautiful tradition Tongan wear....

Each YW chose a different country to display...Here's Mexico..great pics, great facts & great nachos!

They all did a terrific Job on their displays...

Each YW researched facts & history about each country...we where happy to see our native Tonga =)...

Here's the Hawaii display.....she had an all time favorite candy of almost any polynesian....chocolate covered macadamian nuts...

But you've got to act FAST or this is what you'll find with any box of these heavenly pieces of pure goodness...I was definately too slow...

Handmade artifacts....very nice!

Here's Ka...her groups kimono's & display were a hit!

Here are the three beauties together...great job girls!!

The YW also had the option if they wanted to bring a dish from their country...I just had to try them ALL.....yumm!!

One thing I love when you go to our stake functions is how respectful our youth are...here are the YW serving all their guests (parents, family members & leaders) before they ate...

Heamoni (who's their YW president) always has such nice decor...and even better food =)

Voni & Ofo taking a break for a quick pic...

Here's a group shot of all the girls and their YW leaders...aren't they a big group?...in fact, one of the biggest in our stake...and all so lovely at that!!
